eldersis is probably 1 or 2 years older than youngersis. maybe they are fraternal twins even. they look alike, speak with the same kind of tone and have about the same temperament.
they were fighting for something, i couldnt really tell what it was. but it belonged to eldersis. youngersis wanted to snatch it from her, but eldersis refused. when youngersis finally caught it, eldersis cried to want to get back what rightfully belongs to her. there came this huge commotion of screams and cries.
this caught the attention of the mother. she turned to look at her two kids, and said "give it to her, then she will return it to you", of course, targetting at the eldersis. but how is she supposed to understand that logic, when she's barely five. and so they continued fighting.
then something unfortunate happened. because youngersis is well, younger, and she has a lousier sense of balance, she fell off the seat. not surprisingly, she screamed and wailed. she had a small cut on her finger, really small. the mother got a shock and immediately bent over to carry her up, patted her head, hugged her, and said "aw dont cry dont cry. sit with mummy ok."
for the rest of the bus trip, the mother just kept joking and playing around with youngersis to make her laugh, oblivious to the fact that poor eldersis gave up her seat and stood beside her just to grab her attention. she called "mummy" about 5-odd times, and tried pulling mother's sleeves, poking her in the hand, but ended up being ignored. i could tell from her pleading eyes that she felt sorry, even though it wasnt entirely her fault. she didnt want youngersis to fall. she watched mother with pleading eyes, and tried to make conversation. to that young little innocent heart, nothing mattered more than having a mother to love her. but all her hopes were dashed when the mother flung her tiny hand off her arm, and snapped "GO AWAY."
disappointed, she went to find another seat, and never budged for the rest of the journey.
i have nothing against youngersis, but perhaps she has been endowed with too much of mother's love. just because she got hurt, and she fell, and she cried, after a failed attempt to snatch something from eldersis which did not belong to her. they are both just as young, but why do they receive such different treatment under the same circumstance when both had a part to play in it. to put it crudely, she brought it upon herself. BUT.
i'm uber disgusted at the mother. somehow. i think i'm biased. but you see, they are both just as young.
how can you mend a heart and tear another at the same time.
